Surprise Jax Midscope Update Will Hit the LoL PBE Servers Today

A minimal Jax midscope update is available for testing on PBE, starting today.

Jax is one of the first champions ever introduced to the League of Legends, and he has been a staple top lane fighter since then without much change. He even saw a lot of pro play during Season 12, including five picks and eleven bans at Worlds 2022. Despite his power, the Grandmaster at Arms hasn’t been the most visually satisfying champion to play.

According to the Lead Champion Designer on League of Legends, August 'August' Browning who published the changes on his Twitter page, the changes are mainly focused on making Jax’s ultimate more exciting and interesting to use for players. Currently, Jax’s ultimate has two parts, one is a passive damage on every third auto and the other part is an active that gives a set amount of Armor and Magic Resist. So in its current state, there is not much thought on a player’s part as to when to use the ultimate or any chance to do anything different with it.

With the proposed ultimate changes, players will have the opportunity to choose to either activate their ultimate in a 1-on-1 to get access to more passive procs or hold their ability until they are in the middle of the enemy team to get more value out of the resistances. Aside from the ultimate, there are only two more changes to the kit, to Jax’s Q and E, but they are mainly there to give players who want to test out an off-meta AP build for the champion.
