After casting the game full-time for two years Auguste "Semmler" Massonnat will be leaving the Overwatch League ahead of the 2020 season.

Semmler has been with the Overwatch League for two years after making a name for himself in Counter-Strike. He's the fourth caster to depart, alongside Chris Puckett, Erik "DoA" Lonnquist and Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles, DoA has hinted, however, that he might return at select homestand events during Season Three. Semmler did not give an exact reason for his departure.

Speaking about the departure, Semmler stated: “I will not be returning to cast full-time at Overwatch League. The hard part is putting a 2-year partnership on hold. Thanks to Robert "hexagrams" Kirkbride for having my back in all things. Too many in the crew to thank, you know who you are. Best of luck with the homestands! Time to GET AFTER IT”

At this time we don’t know what’s next for Semmler, though it would be a safe bet to assume he’ll head back to Counter-Strike. In fact, he’s been at a number of CS:GO broadcasts during the OWL offseason. With another busy year of CS:GO in 2020, Semmler will certainly have a few offers to consider.

Trouble Ahead?

2020 is going to be massive for the Overwatch League. With homestand events taking place, teams having to conduct immense travel, especially for Spitfire and Eternal. The loss of four major talents and a host of players retiring, Season Three is likely to be the most important yet for Blizzard’s franchised league.
