Pokemon Unite has a new set of characters performing well in the new meta.

After the recent balancing patch in Pokemon Unite, the game saw a shift in its meta. Although the patch hasn’t made a huge overhaul, there are certainly some new Pokemon who are doing a lot better and are now meta picks. We have compiled a tier list focussing mainly on solo queue and parties with small numbers. As 5-man parties are more organized, the favorite Pokemon change there.

Venusaur

Venusaur Pokemon Unite

Venusaur is great in solo matches because it just ticks a lot of boxes. Not only is the Pokemon good at taking objectives, it excels in scoring too. Venusaur is very elusive with Petal Dance and that makes the character difficult to kill. Venusaur is also versatile and not dependent on farm and lane dominance in the early stages of the match. It can play multiple roles in the game and that makes it perfect for solo matches.

Lucario

Lucario Pokemon Unite

Lucario has been in the meta for a long time. The recent nerfs have not affected it enough with the compensations made. It is viable in the meta. Lucario is best with the close combat build in the current patch. He is also versatile and very strong in the early minutes of the game.

Garchomp

Garchomp Unite

Another versatile character which was out of meta for a long time. However, thanks to the buffs he is now in the S-tier. Although both the Dig and Dragon Rush builds are viable, most players prefer the former. The changes to Dragon Rush combo are more overpowered, which few people notice. Garchomp sits at S-Tier and is definitely one of the best carries in the game.

Greninja

Greninja

Greninja is a very solid attacker and that has been the case for a long time now. Although Water Shuriken is the most typical build, Surf is actually extremely strong on this character. Greninja can easily win against multiple enemy Pokemon even in the late game. The Pokemon sits on high A-tier and maybe even S-tier if a player knows its potential.

Cinderace

Cinderace

Cinderace is amazing as an attacker sitting on S-tier. It suffers from a weak early game, but getting a safe jungle farm can solve that issue. If the jungle is already occupied, it is best to play safely in the lane and wait until you get the important levels. Both Pyro Ball and Blaze Kick are strong builds on Cinderace, but the latter is more appealing to higher tier players as it provides tons of mobility.

Honorable Mentions

Although we have listed the best Pokemon in the current meta, there are a few awesome ones who couldn’t make the list. Charizard now possesses the ability to move in Flamethrower and Fire Blast, which make him way stronger than before. Talonflame is also strong as it can dive squishy enemy carries and change the flow of fights with its Unite move. It is especially viable in solo queue, where people aren’t very organized.
