As expected, Colorado Avalanche prevailed in the first game even though they let Tampa Bay Lightning tie the score in the second period. The game in the third period ended with 3-3 only for Colorado Avalanche to win by 4-3 during the overtime. Right now, Lightning’s journey shows that they have been here before (losing the first game) and they have prevailed at the end.  

Andrei Vasilevskiy didn’t start the game at 100%, his stats during the first period, especially allowing three goals during the period. He hasn’t played worse before, but he managed to bounce back and at the end of the night he accumulated 34 saves before Andre Burakovsky scored the final goal during the overtime. 

Darcy Kuemper has been missing longer compared to his teammates because of the injury he suffered at the end of May against Edmonton. In the first game of the series, he managed to hold well against Tampa Bay Lightning even though in the second period he dropped the ball and let them tie the game. He managed to keep the line in the third period and give his team and the opportunity needed to win the game.
