Canada vs Morocco Predictions, Odds, World Cup 01/12/2022

Detailed Preview and Canada vs Morocco Prediction

The upcoming group F fixture – Canada vs Morocco – will start at precisely 10 a.m. ET is scheduled to be played at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.

Canada and Morocco have slightly different World Cup experiences because Canada only managed to qualify for the tournament once before back in 1986, while Morocco qualified five times prior to 2022. Also, Canada didn’t win any of their group games back in 1986 and there aren’t any indications that they can improve on their record this year, as they lost both of their group games before this.

Morocco has gotten past the group stage once in the same year, but they lost to West Germany in the next round. This year, Morocco surprised us and beat the group favorites Belgium with a clean sheet, and they also drew their game against the second favorites in the group Croatia. This puts them in a position where they will have to rely on the ending of the other group game to see if they will qualify for the next round.

These two teams have played together only once before and the game ended with quite a goal difference.

The bookmakers’ World Cup odds change all the time, but even they didn’t expect Morocco to be a favorite at the beginning of the tournament, and Canada vs Morocco odds have never been more popular after the recent upset.

Which Players to Keep an Eye on in This Game?

Canada

Jonathan David: The forward from Lille has played 37 games for his national team and scored 22 goals in them. Although he still hasn’t scored in this World Cup he is still one of Canada’s best.

Morocco

Hakim Ziyech: The Chelsea midfielder scored the first goal in the upset match against Belgium, but it was disallowed due to offside. He assisted for the last goal scored in the game, too.

Canada vs Morocco prediction: Morocco to Win @ +110 (Pinnacle)

History is most likely going to repeat itself in this match because Canada will most likely lose, which is the same performance as their first and only other World Cup back in 1986. Morocco though will probably win the game, which will advance them to the next stage of the tournament. This is similar to their best performance at any World Cup back in 1986 because they won their group then but lost in the next round.

Can Morocco make history this year or will Canada be the team to steal their thunder even though they won’t be going forward to the next stage? Even though Morocco’s ball possession percentages in both of their first games were less than the opponent team, they still managed to end the matches positively. This time though, we expect Monaco to push their attacks, so they can claim an easy win against Canada maybe in the first half, too, as they tried to do against Belgium.

Canada vs Morocco prediction: Both Teams to Score – No @ -115 (Pinnacle)

Canada couldn’t score against Belgium, but they did surprise us in the game against Croatia with the first goal in the game by Alphonso Davis. That only angered the European team, though, because they answered with two other goals near the end of the first half and ended the second half with two more goals.

We think that this upcoming game will most likely end with a clean sheet for Morocco which is the same as both of their group games, so far, and the Canada vs Morocco odds from bookies support this pick. If they managed to get a clean sheet against the group favorites Belgium, they can do it against Canada, as well. Milan Borjan let five goals past him already in this tournament, so it won’t be a shock if he fails in the game against Morocco, too.

How is Group F Going to End?

Group F has been quite interesting because at the beginning bookmaker odds favored Belgium to win it and Croatia to be the second to reach the next stage. Now though, after the first two games each team played in the group Belgium’s odds to win have increased to +275, while the favorite has become Croatia with –111. Canada can’t win the group or qualify further, but they can stop Morocco from qualifying further, although it’s unlikely. Morocco’s group F odds are +210 right now.
