Seattle Seahawks vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 10 matchup preview and current betting lines
Both the Seahawks and Buccaneers will travel to Munich, Germany for a battle of NFC West and South leaders. Kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. EST and the contest can be seen on the NFL Network.
Many people would say you’re a liar if you told them that nine weeks into the season the Buccaneers would be 4-5 and fighting to make the playoffs while Seattle would be 6-3 and a No. 3 seed if the playoffs started today.
The Seahawks started their season 2-3 but are currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak with wins over the Cardinals, (twice) Chargers and Giants.
Last week, after taking a 17-14 lead against Arizona with 2:43 remaining in the second quarter, Seattle never relinquished its lead. Kenneth Walker sealed the 31-21 victory after a 5-yard scamper into the end zone with 2:14 in the fourth quarter.
Tampa Bay began its year with two comfortable wins over Dallas (19-3) and New Orleans (20-10). Todd Bowles and his squad then proceeded to lose five of the next six games before finally beating the Rams (16-13) last week.
Late-game heroics were needed from Tom Brady to complete the comeback victory. The seven-time Super Bowl champ put together a six-play, 60-yard scoring drive in 35 seconds. Brady found rookie tight end Cade Otton with nine seconds left for a 1-yard score.
Oddsmakers at BetRivers Sportsbook are favoring the Buccaneers by 2.5 points. On the moneyline, Seattle is +123 and Tampa Bay sits at -152 odds.
Bettors have put 68% of their bets on the Seahawks to cover but 52% of the money is on the Bucs’ spread. Gamblers have put 66% of their bets and 69% of the money on Seattle to win outright.
Players to watch in the Seahawks vs. Buccaneers contest
Seattle
DK Metcalf: The super athlete wide receiver has 42 receptions for 510 yards and four touchdowns this season. Metcalf has been targeted six or more times in all but one game. He’s caught a touchdown each of the last two weeks and will be crucial in the red zone vs. a stingy Tampa defense.
Tampa Bay
Tom Brady: The “GOAT” has had trouble in the red zone this season. The Bucs have the third-worst red zone offense and are converting touchdowns on only 44.44% of trips. Brady has played well aside from that category and has thrown for 2,457 yards, (2nd) 10 touchdowns, one interception (1st in the NFL) and has a quarterback rating of 51.5.

Seattle vs. Tampa Bay Alternate Spread: Seattle +3 @ -118
After Seattle traded Russell Wilson away for a plethora of picks along with Drew Lock and Noah Fant, many NFL fans and pundits believed the team would move into a rebuilding stage. After going 7-10 with Wilson in 2021, many thought the team would play worse this season. The Seahawks still have eight games left to play and already are one win away from last year’s total.
Geno Smith defeated Lock in training camp for the starting job and he’s playing the quarterback position better than most around the league. Statistically, (look away Bucs and Patriots fans) the 32-year-old has performed better than Tom Brady. Smith has thrown for 2,199 yards, 15 touchdowns, four interceptions and has a quarterback rating of 68.1. The West Virginia product ranks in the top-10 for each of those stats including fourth for QBR (better than 28 other QBs). According to Pro Football Focus, Smith is the best deep ball thrower (passes of 20 or more yards) in the NFL through nine weeks (95.7 grade).
After Seattle’s win against Arizona, Pete Carroll praised Geno Smith for using a wristband and seemingly took a shot at Wilson.

Seattle’s passing game has been extremely successful due to its strong running game. Rookie running back Kenneth Walker III is a workhorse back. The second-rounder has carried the ball 111 times resulting in 570 yards, seven touchdowns and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
The balanced Seahawks offense has been hot and ranks fourth in the NFL in points per game (26.8). For yards per game, the unit ranks 11th (359.8 yards per game). On the other side of the ball, things haven’t gone as well. The defense is surrendering 24.4 points per contest (23rd) and 364.6 YPG (25th). Although, over the last four games Seattle has shown improvement limiting opponents to 16.5 PPG.
Tampa Bay has been a mess offensively. Brady and company have the 19th-ranked offense (331.8 YPG) and are only posting 18 points per game (8th-worst). The team’s defense has been keeping it in games allowing the opposition to score just 18.2 points per outing (5th) and is surrendering 313 yards per week (9th).
Seahawks wideouts have six receiving touchdowns since week 6 — tied for third-most in the league. The Buccaneers have given up seven receiving touchdowns since Week 6 — tied for second-most in the NFL. Seattle will certainly pose a problem with Pro Bowl wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett healthy.
Pete Carroll’s men are 6-3 against this spread this year and 5-1 ATS in their last six games. Tampa Bay is 2-6-1 against the spread this season and 0-6-1 ATS in its previous seven contests.
The only two times the Bucs covered the spread was in the first two weeks of the campaign. Our pick at ESTNN is to take Seattle to cover a 3-point alternate spread at -118 odds on BetRivers Sportsbook.
Seahawks vs. Buccaneers odds: Kenneth Walker over 78.5 rushing and receiving yards @ -115
Carroll has leaned on Walker every week since he’s become the starter. The rookie was selected 41st overall to be the franchise ball carrier.
The Michigan State product has eclipsed 87 yards rushing in four of his last four games. He’s carried the rock 21, 23, 18 and 26 times in that span.
Tampa Bay hasn’t indicated with its gameplay throughout the entire season that it’ll blow Seattle out and shift the game script into the Seahawks abandoning the run.
Our selection is to take the over 78.5 rush yards prop on Bet365 Sportsbook. The odds are currently set at -115.
