Los Angeles Rams vs. Green Bay Packers Week 15 matchup preview and current betting lines
During the offseason, a Rams vs. Packers primetime matchup would’ve sounded mouthwatering. The defending Super Bowl champions taking on the back-to-back NFL MVP.
Much has changed since then, Aaron Rodgers wasn’t given any help at receiver, while the offensive line and defense also took a step in the wrong direction. The Rams suffered a Super Bowl hangover whilst Matt Stafford and Cooper Kupp suffered season-ending injuries.
Green Bay (5-8) is coming off of a bye and beat Chicago 28-19 prior to that in Week 13. The Packers have lost three out of their previous five outings.
Los Angeles (4-9) had lost six-straight games before signing Baker Mayfield. The former Heisman Trophy winner had less than 48 hours to prepare against the Raiders but managed to lead a game-winning drive and throw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson with 10 seconds remaining to seal the 17-16 victory.

Players to watch in the Rams vs. Packers contest
Baker Mayfield: The Rams’ new quarterback already has a historic comeback win under his belt and wants to prove that he can be the long-term answer at quarterback for the team. There is no guarantee that Stafford will return as the team’s starter next year because of a neck injury. His play was also extremely subpar in 2022-2023.
Aaron Jones: Green Bay’s offense goes as far as both Aarons (Jones and Rodgers) will take them. The “swiss army knife” who can run and catch has eclipsed 1,000 total yards on the season and is 153 yards short of reaching the mark on the ground. Jones has recorded six total touchdowns and is averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

Los Angeles vs. Green Bay: Packers -5.5 @ -156 (FanDuel)
Mayfield definitely deserves credit for orchestrating the miracle comeback against the Raiders. Although, Las Vegas made crucial mistakes down the stretch including playing too conservatively, turning the ball over in the red zone and running press coverage on the final play of the game.
Green Bay likely won’t commit any of those three errors and have a tougher defense than the Raiders. At 18th in the league for total defense, (347.7 yards per game) the unit isn’t the greatest but does have talented players which sometimes underperform.
Los Angeles boasts the second-worst offense in the NFL (283 YPG) and is third-worst in scoring (16.8 points per game). The Packers rank 16th in total offense (345.6 YPG).
Rodgers hasn’t played to his usual standard and features the 26th-ranked quarterback rating in the NFL (41.3). The 39-year-old has thrown for 2,864 yards, 22 touchdowns (5th) and nine interceptions (T-23rd).
He’s finally found a weapon worth throwing to though. Rookie wide receiver Christian Watson has become his primary weapon aside from running back Aaron Jones.
The Packers are 5-8 against the spread this season but are 8-0 ATS in the last eight matchups when locking horns with the Rams. Los Angeles is 4-8-1 ATS this season and 1-5 ATS in its last six games at Lambeau Field.
Our pick at ESTNN is to take the Packers to cover an alternate 5.5-point spread. FanDuel Sportsbook is offering -156 odds for the wager.
Rams vs. Packers odds: Christian Watson anytime TD scorer @ +140 (DraftKings)
The Packers’ 34th-overall pick in this year’s draft struggled with injuries to begin the season but is on a historic touchdown run now. Watson has scored a staggering seven receiving touchdowns and one rushing in his last four games putting him at nine total for the season.
The North Dakota State product has found the end zone at least two times in three of the last four contests. He’s also used on jet sweeps and has two rushing scores this year due to his speed and versatility.
Becoming Rodgers’ top weapon certainly has its perks and scoring touchdowns is one of them. We believe it’s wise to take him as an anytime touchdown scorer against the Rams at +140 odds on DraftKings.
