Raiders vs. Chiefs NFL week 5 odds, preview and current betting lines
This AFC West face off sees top take on bottom but that doesn’t make it the forgone conclusion that a lot of people seem to think it will be. The Chiefs obviously arrive into the game as favorites to win having put up a 3-1 record so far this season, however, the main source of the positive vibes around the team has been built on last weeks performance. Not only did the Chiefs get the win they wanted but their game play was moving back towards something like we associate to them.
The Raiders by stark contrast find themselves rock bottom of the division having won just once in their opening four games. That win, however, did come last week meaning confidence is higher than you might predict for a team that’s starting to get cut adrift of the other teams in the division. That combined with what we saw from the Kansas defense last week will give the Raiders a little ray of how about causing an upset here; the reason for that is because whilst the Chiefs looked back to their devastating best in offense, they sure allowed Tom Brady to have some fun himself.
The only other thing to say before we press on with our tips is to point out what a Raiders win would do for the division. A Chiefs win would see them cement their place as favorites for the division but a loss would blow things wide open!
Players to watch in the Raiders vs. Chiefs game
Las Vegas Raiders
Maxx Crossby: In the preview section above we mentioned about a poor defense where the Raiders are concerned but Maxx Crossby is made different; he hit two sacks last week and made 4.0 tackles. If he’s fully on song here then he’ll boost his team’s chances hugely.
Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes: We’ve touched on Kansas looking back to their best and this guy is a big part of that. Patrick Mahomes isn’t just a weapon in his own right though; his relationships with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Travis Kielce are massive assets for this.
Our NFL bet of the week for the Raiders vs. Chiefs match
Right, with the preview over let’s move on to our predictions, after all, that’s the main reason you’re here.
Raiders vs. Chiefs Spread betting: Chiefs -3.5 @ -188
The Chiefs are very much fancied to win this match and we’re agreeing with that sentiment as we back them to win with a -3.5 spread, which is something they’re more than capable of doing. The Raiders have lost three of their past four games and whilst only one of those trio came with a losing margin over 3.5 they probably have papered over cracks courtesy of late flurries of points in games; their loss to the Titans is a good example of that very thing. In addition to the Raiders being susceptible to a loss, you’ve also got the Chiefs to consider. They’ve been in great shape of late with four wins in their last five; three of those have come by more than 3.5 points with eye catching results against Cardinals and, last week, versus the Bucs.
Raiders vs. Chiefs odds: Total points under 47.5 @ -189
Our next prediction for this match sees us backing the play to go over 47.5 total points. The Chiefs have averaged 50.4 points per game across their last five with three of those games passing the all important 47.5 threshold during that period. The Raiders meanwhile have seen two of their last three matches go north of 47.5. As for the head to head record between these sides it has long been about the high scoring encounters; each of the last five meetings have gone north of 47.5 whilst their game average of 59.8 points is well clear of where we need this game to settle.
