The Preakness Stakes is quite literally right around the corner. The race itself will take place this Saturday, and the Preakness Stakes betting markets are hotting up. And if you’ve done a bit of research on the race already, you may have an idea of the top contenders, as well as the lineup. If not, our aim through the information here is to show you some expert picks, highlight the Preakness favorites, and provide you with some exciting Preakness Stakes predictions too.
But let us first give you a breakdown of the Preakness favorites, as this is of great importance ahead of the second Triple Crown leg.
Epicenter – main favorite
As some of you may be aware, Epicenter is the main favorite for the Preakness Stakes. In the last three months, Epicenter has won two Grade Two races and finished second in a Grade One – the Kentucky Derby. This kind of form has led to the +120 odds that many sportsbooks have for him right now.
Early Voting – second favorite
Early Voting has also done a fair bit of winning in recent times. This horse has a record of 2 wins from 3 races since December 2021. One of these was a Grade Three, and the second-place finish came in a Grade Two on April 9th. Thanks to such performances, Early Voting has odds of +350, making him one of the top three Preakness favorites.
Secret Oath – third favorite
Before we get into our Preakness Stakes predictions, there is one last horse to mention. This horse is Secret Oath, and he has odds of +450. Secret Oath has raced far more than the previous two. And he recently won a Grade One event at Churchill Downs in May.

Preakness Stakes predictions with odds
Taking everything into account, we’ve been able to filter things down and create a couple of expert picks for the Preakness Stakes. Our first suggestion is that Epicenter will cross the line in first position on Saturday. Given his form and stature, we just don’t see how any other horse can challenge him. With that said, Secret Oath is obviously a horse that is hitting form ahead of the Preakness Stakes too.
We don’t feel that Secret Oath can beat Epicenter, but you never know! And for that reason, we would recommend going for an each-way wager for Secret Oath.
