By Lawrence Smelser

Championship week of the college football season has arrived. The teams playing this weekend will try and win their conference championships and book their spots in the College Football Playoff or a bowl game. Enjoy the games this Saturday with a few different types of bets including an NCAA parlay pick in this article.

College Football Moneyline bets for Championship week

The section below will provide NCAA picks and a parlay for this week.

Moneyline Pick: No. 13 Kansas State vs. No. 3 TCU

We predict the Horned Frogs will beat the Wildcats in the Big 12 Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

TCU -125 (Caesars)

The scenario is simple for TCU— win and you’re in. If the No. 3 Horned Frogs (12-0) can win the Big 12 Championship, they’ll make it into the College Football Playoff for the first time in their history.

Sonny Dykes’ squad comes into the game on fire after dropping 62 points against Iowa State in its 62-14 win. No. 13 Kansas State also enters the contest on a high note after finishing its regular season with a 47-27 victory over rival Kansas.

TCU’s offense is led by quarterback Max Duggan. The senior is currently the second-leading candidate to win the Heisman Trophy at +1550 odds trailing Caleb Williams (-1650).

If Duggan can beat Kansas State, he’ll have a much higher chance at the Heisman since Williams and USC were blown out in the Pac-12 Championship by Utah, 47-24.

Max Duggan Stats

Passing yards: 3,070 (24th)

Passing touchdowns: 29 (T-12th)

Interceptions: 3 (T-8th)

Quarterback rating: 79.7 (14th)

The 21-year-old has also added 295 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Dykes’ offensive scheme has been successful in his first year at the helm. In terms of total offense, the unit ranks 16th in the nation, averaging 473.3 yards per game. For points per game, it sits eighth among all FBS teams, (41.3).

The Wildcats come into the game in the midst of a three-game winning streak with triumphs over Baylor, West Virginia and Kansas. A win would earn Chris Kleiman’s team a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl.

KSU ranks 46th in the country in total defense (357.3 yards per game) and 14th in points allowed per contest (19.4).

The last time these two teams met, TCU won 38-28. Kansas State’s starting quarterback, Adrien Martinez, missed the matchup due to injury and is questionable for Saturday. In the last ten meetings between the two teams, the teams have won five games apiece.

Our pick at ESTNN is to take the Horned Frogs to win outright. Caesars Sportsbook is offering -125 odds for the selection.

Spread Pick: Toledo vs. Ohio

Our pick is that Ohio will defeat Toledo in the MAC Championship game at Ford Field in Detroit.

Ohio (+3) -110 @ FanDuel

Ohio (9-3) is on an absolute tear and is one of the hottest teams in the country. After a rough 2-3 start to the season, the Bobcats have won seven-straight games.

Tim Albin’s squad has won six of the seven contests by double-digits. During the streak, the program has won by an average of 17.4 points per game.

Toledo (7-5) has lost two games in a row against Bowling Green and Western Michigan. The Rockets have faltered in three of their previous five contests.

Ohio quarterback Kurtis Roarke has played superbly in 2022. The junior has thrown for 3,256 yards, (17th) 25 touchdowns and four interceptions. Roarke also boasts a quarterback rating of 73.7 (25th).

Against the spread, the Bobcats are 9-3 this season and have covered eight games in a row. Ohio is also 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games against Mid-American conference opponents.

The Rockets are 4-8 ATS this year and are 0-5 ATS in their previous five outings. At ESTNN, we believe Ohio (-3) will cover once again. FanDuel is offering -110 odds for the bet.

NCAA Parlay Pick: No. 9 Clemson vs. No. 23 North Carolina and No. 22 UCF vs. No. 18 Tulane

We predict both North Carolina and Tulane will cover the two alternate spreads below this weekend.

North Carolina (+11.5) (-165) to cover and UCF (+9.5) (-195) to cover (Parlay odds: +143 @ DraftKings)

Clemson has struggled to cover the spread against quality opponents. In three of its wins against Florida State, Syracuse and Wake Forest, the Tigers won by exactly six points in each contest. Against NC State, they won by 10.

The Tigers are coming off a 31-30 loss to South Carolina which knocked it out of College Football Playoff contention.

They’ll face a North Carolina team that features an electric quarterback and one of the best offenses in the country. The Tar Heels rank 12th in points per game and 14th in yards per contest. Tar Heel quarterback Drake Maye ranks in the top 10 for yards, touchdowns and QBR.

We believe this contest will come down to the wire and that UNC will cover the alternate 11.5-point spread.

The last time UCF and Tulane met, the Knights triumphed 38-31 in New Orleans. They’ll travel to Yulman Stadium once again and are 4-2 straight up against the Green Wave on the road.

A 9.5-point spread gives Central Florida plenty of wiggle room. UCF fell by six points or less in two of its three losses.

At ESTNN, we believe the Knights will cover the 9.5-point spread. When parlaying both North Carolina and Central Florida, DraftKings offers +143 odds.

College football picks and parlays

What kind of bets are Parlays?

A parlay is a single bet that involves two or more wagers put together for a greater potential winning cash out. In order for the parlay to be a winner, every team or outcome in the betting slip must win. The more teams or potential outcomes in the parlay, the less chance you have of winning but the potential payout increases. Different types of bets can be tied into a parlay such as a spread, moneyline or over/under bet.

Example of an NCAA parlay

The following example of a bet slip contains a parlay with three outcomes needed to occur to win: Louisville at Central Florida going over 61.5 points, Missouri covering the 7.5 spread against Kansas State, and Iowa beating Iowa State. The combined odds of the three bets are +473.

Missouri +7.5 (-110)

What is a same-game parlay?

Same-game parlays are parlays containing different types of bets from a single game. Gamblers can string together different market bets and props from the same matchup into one slip in hopes to land a larger payout.

For example, someone could combine four different bets onto their slip such as the moneyline, over/under, an anytime touchdown scorer and a team to win by a range of points. These four bets could pay a lot if all four hit. Many sports fans do this to add more excitement to their viewing experience. NCAA Parlay betting can be extremely entertaining to do while watching games. Even a few dollars can turn into a big win.
