Morocco vs Spain betting tips, picks, and betting lines

It’s time for the last round-of-16 matchday in this World Cup. Morocco takes on a grand challenge vs Spain in an attempt to prove to the soccer World that the North African country didn’t win Group F by accident.

Coach Walid Regragui has all the bragging rights in the World right now after he succeeded in motivating his players for some really massive results. Morocco certainly didn’t have it easy in the group stage of the tournament as Belgium and Croatia were the top favorites yet Morocco were the ones to win 1st place.

That being said, it’s going to take a special kind of performance by the African team to eliminate Spain from the World Cup. Coach Luis Enrique’s players have been a joy to watch and we’re convinced that the 2:1 Japanese victory over the FIFA World Cup 2010 winners was a complete fluke.

La Furia Roja are a well-oiled machine that requires plenty of effort to defeat. Morocco certainly performed admirably in the group stage but the Spanish test is the most difficult they have faced in recent years and we don’t think that they will ace it.

Key players to watch in the Morocco vs Spain clash

Morocco

Hakim Ziyech: This Chelsea bench-warmer has been pulling Morocco forward for years. It’s only at this World Cup that we finally realized just how important he is to the way that Morocco plays. Perhaps coach Graham Potter will come to his senses and give Hakim Ziyech the chance he deserves as he’s been killing it with Morocco.

Spain

Gavi: There are plenty of world-class players on the La Furia Roja roster but if we had to single out one of them, it would probably have to be Gavi. The 18-year-old troublemaker is an extremely charismatic player that comes once or twice in a generation. Of course, we have yet to see what he’ll do with all that God-given talent but early indications tell us that he’s on the right track to glory.

Morocco vs Spain odds: Spain to win @ -166

You have to sympathize with Morocco as they pulled off a remarkable underdog story in this World Cup but this is far as they’ll get. It’s unthinkable that Spain will be knocked out so early in the tournament.

La Furia Roja’s squad is almost four times more expensive than the Moroccan one. With an estimated market value of approximately €877m, Spain are favorites to win basically against anyone, not just Morocco. It’s ridiculous how many world-class players coach Luis Enrique has at his disposal.

His midfield is crazy-good now but we dare not think of how good Gavi and Pedri will be in the 2026 World Cup when they mature a bit more as they are too early in their careers. Our Morocco vs Spain prediction for this game is for an extremely difficult Spanish victory but a victory nonetheless.

Morocco vs Spain odds: First half – Under 0.5 goals @ -181

The only issue that followed Spain in these last few years was the attacking position but it seems that Alvaro Morata has that covered as he already bagged three goals for his country. The only game in which Spain impressed was the 7:0 victory against Costa Rica in the opening round.

In the remaining two group-stage games, Spain kind of disappointed with their attacking performances. Yes, they were dictating the flow in all three games but as it was proved countless times in the past, having possession and passing the ball around doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll win.

Morocco didn’t win 1st place in the group stage by accident. The African team conceded only one goal in the three games that were played. And it was an own goal! Our Morocco vs Spain prediction here is for a goalless draw on the stroke of half-time.
