Check out our Miami vs. Iowa State betting picks and odds for the NCAA tournament Midwest Region Sweet 16 game that will take place in United Center in Chicago, IL, on March 25, 2022.
The Miami Hurricanes and the Iowa State Cyclones are teams that weren’t projected to go this deep in the NCAA tournament and now since they are in the Sweet 16, both teams are hoping to make a historic result.
The Hurricanes finished 4th in the ACC with 25 wins and 10 losses and couldn’t make a significant success in the conference tournament as they run up on Duke in the semifinal. Miami was pretty competitive in that game building an early 10-point league but couldn’t hold on against the Blue Devils who won 80-76.
Despite the loss, the Hurricanes proved that they can compete against the best teams in the country and used that in the first two rounds of the NCAA championship. Miami also started strong against USC in the first round, leading by 11 at halftime but had to go through a dramatic finish to win by 68-66.
That wasn’t the case in the second round as the Hurricanes stunned the top team from the SEC, the Auburn Tigers, winning by 79-61. The game was tight in the first half but the Hurricanes went on to win the second one by 17 points to make one of the biggest upsets in the tournament so far. The Hurricanes held the mighty opponent to only 30% shooting from the field and managed to win the game even though they made only 3 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Isaiah Wong led the Hurricanes in both games, scoring 22 against the Trojans and 21 against the Tigers.
After Saint Peter’s, the Iowa State Cyclones are the team who made the biggest surprise advancing to the Sweet 16 phase. The Cyclones finished 7th in the Big 12 with 22 wins and 12 losses. They finished the regular season with three consecutive losses but somehow regrouped when it counted the most.
Iowa State showed character in the first two rounds, winning difficult games. They started with a 59-54 win over LSU which wasn’t so surprising but no one expected the Cyclones to go over Wisconsin. Iowa State wasn’t so efficient on the offensive end but did a great job on defense, holding the Badgers to 29.8% shooting from the field and only 9.1% from deep. Senior guard Gabe Kalscheur was the key man for the Cyclones scoring 22 points despite his season average is just over 9 points per game.
Miami is 2.5-point favorite in this one and the over/under margin is set at 133 points.

Miami vs. Iowa State Prediction
Now after we have the basic info for the game and teams’ season, it’s time to share our betting predictions on the Miami vs. Iowa State game.
Miami to win against the spread [-2.5]
The Miami Hurricanes are coming into the Sweet 16 game as a 2.5-point favorite. The Hurricanes play in a much better conference than the Cyclones and with the fact that they have a better regular record, clearly states who the better of the two teams is. Miami is an excellent shooting team with 47.7% from the field which ranks them 28th in the country while the Cyclones are 178th with 44.2% shooting from the field. Both Miami and Iowa State are bad rebounding teams as the Hurricanes are ranked 320th in the nation and the Cyclones 338th.
Miami has covered the spread in 3 of the last 4 games against teams with winning records and in 6 of the last 8 games overall but has not done so in the last 5 tournament games.
Iowa State has covered the spread in 6 of the last 7 games going in as underdogs and in 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a winning record over 60%.
Taking all this into consideration, Miami will not score as easy as they usually do against the Cyclones defense but anyway will be able to covered the spread and win by at least three points. Miami is simply much quicker team that can create points in transition and the Cyclones will not be able to hold them down.

Over 133 Total Points
The Hurricanes played over 133 points in the first two rounds of the tournament while the Cyclones were under in both games.
Miami has played over the total points margin in the last 5 games as favorites and in 10 of the last 13 games on neutral site. The Cyclones have played over the total point margin in 7 of the last 9 tournament games but have played under in the last 4 games on neutral site.
Anyway, the Hurricanes are the team that will lead the pace in this game and the Cyclones will have to speed their game up in order to catch up with Miami. Therefore, this game will go over the margin which is not set to high.
