Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Odds, Spread, Preview: NFL Week 6 Predictions

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Week 6 matchup preview and current betting lines

Sunday Night Football is set to feature a mouthwatering matchup between two of the biggest rivals in the NFL — the Cowboys and Eagles. Since the teams first faced off in 1960, Dallas leads the all-time series 72-54.

The Eagles are the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL at 5-0. They are currently the favorites to win the NFC at +250 on most sportsbooks. However, Nick Sirianni and his squad will attempt to end a three-game losing streak to the Cowboys dating back to 2020.

Philadelphia’s five wins came against the following teams:

Detroit: 38-35

Minnesota: 24-7

Washington: 24-8

Jacksonville: 29-21

Arizona: 20-17

Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts has been on an absolute tear this campaign. The dual-threat signal caller is fourth on most sportsbook’s MVP odds at +650. Only Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson sit ahead of him.

Through five games, the former Oklahoma and Alabama product has thrown for 1,359 yards, four touchdowns, two picks and has a quarterback rating of 59.8 (ninth in the NFL). On the ground, Hurts has 266 yards and six scores.

Dallas is on a four-game win streak with Cooper Rush under center. After losing 19-3 in week 1, America’s team has gone on to beat the Bengals, Giants, Commanders and Rams.

Rush has filled in for Dak Prescott (injured his thumb in the opener) and has played well. The 5th-year backup has thrown for 839 yards, four touchdowns and has a QBR or 67.6 (fifth in the NFL). Rush isn’t lighting up the stats sheet, but he has protected the ball by not throwing an interception. Dallas’ defense and run game has also played key roles throughout the string of victories.

The current moneyline odds for this matchup on FanDuel Sportsbook are Dallas (+235) vs. Philadelphia (-290). Oddsmakers favor the Eagles as 6.5-point favorites at -110 odds. Among the public, 68% of spread bets have been placed on the Cowboys to cover, while 53% of the money is on the Eagles.

Players to watch in the Cowboys vs. Eagles contest

Dallas

CeeDee Lamb: The 2020 No. 17 overall pick became the Cowboys’ de facto WR1 after Amari Cooper was traded to the Browns in the offseason. The former Oklahoma Sooner has posted at least 75 yards in three of the five contests this year. So far, Lamb has 341 yards on 28 receptions as well as two touchdowns. It’ll be a fun matchup to watch as he lines up against elite corner Darius Slay (shut down Justin Jefferson in week 2).

Philadelphia

Miles Sanders: Philadelphia’s primary ball carrier is having a career year so far in 2022. The former Nittany Lion ranks fourth in the NFL with 414 rushing yards and has broken the plane on three occasions. Sanders exploded in week 4 against the Jags for 134 yards and two scores. There were question marks surrounding his durability and capability to be an every down back leading into the season, but Sanders has silenced critics thus far.

ESTNN is providing wagerers with two free selections for this game.

Dallas vs. Philadelphia Spread: Dallas +6.5 @ -110

Philadelphia might be undefeated, but it’ll face its toughest test on defense yet. Many haters might not want to read this, but through five weeks Dallas has a Super Bowl caliber defense. The Cowboys rank third in points per game, (14.4) seventh in yards per contest, (311.4) and second in total sacks with 20 (one behind San Francisco). In its last two outings, the silver and blue have allowed just 10 points per game.

The unit is spearheaded by the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Micah Parsons. The No. 12 overall pick in 2021 is tied for the league lead in sacks (6).

There will likely be fireworks as Dallas’ elite defense faces Philly’s second-ranked offense (419.8 yards per game). The Eagles are also ranked fifth in points per game (27).

Philadelphia has allowed its competition to apply pressure to Hurts on 30.1% of pass attempts since the start of 2021 (29th in the NFL). Dan Quinn’s Cowboy defense is pressuring the QBs its facing ironically 30.1% of the time since 2021, which is second-best in the league.

The Cowboys are 4-1 against the spread this season, with the lone failure to cover coming against the Bucs when Prescott left the game injured. Dallas is 7-2 ATS in its last nine matchups vs. Philadelphia. The Eagles are 3-2 ATS this season.

If Dallas continues its stellar play defensively and Rush doesn’t turn the ball over, Mike McCarthy’s squad should cover the spread. Our pick is to take the Cowboys to cover the 6.5-point spread on FanDuel Sportsbook at -110 odds.

Cowboys vs. Eagles odds: A.J. Brown over 67.5 receiving yards @ -110

The Ole Miss product has had at least 69 receiving yards in four-of-five games this season. Last week against the Cardinals, Brown had his worst performance as an Eagle (32 yards). Brown did have seven targets though. Had he caught a few more balls, he probably would’ve eclipsed 67.5 yards.

The 25-year-old has had at least seven targets in every game. Brown has 45 total targets with an average of nine per contest. The electric wideout is Philly’s WR1 with 28 receptions for 436 yards and a touchdown in 2022-2023. Brown is averaging 87.2 yards per outing and 15.6 yards per catch.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs will likely cover Brown for the majority of the game. The Pro Bowler led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021. The former Alabama star is considered a ballhawk rather than a lockdown corner. There were many instances last season of opposing wide receivers burning the corner for big plays and chunks of yardage.

Our advice at ESTNN is to take the over 67.5 receiving yards prop. BetMGM is offering -110 odds on its sportsbook.
