Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders Week 10 matchup preview and current betting lines
The Colts will travel to Sin City to take on an underperforming Raiders team Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 ET and the game can be seen on CBS.
Despite the Raiders reeling at 2-6, Indianapolis (3-5-1) is currently in a “dumpster fire” of a situation. The team’s owner, Jim Irsay, fired head coach Frank Reich after last week’s 26-3 loss at New England.
Reich finished his tenure as the Colts’ head coach with a 40-33-1 record (54.7% win percentage). The quarterbacks Reich used during his tenure weren’t impressive aside from Andrew Luck who retired after one season with the coach. Jacoby Brissett, a past-his-prime Philip Rivers and a struggling Carson Wentz were the only quarterbacks to play 15 or more games in a season.
Irsay brought in the team’s former Pro Bowl center, Jeff Saturday, to be the interim head coach. The move has caused scrutiny due to Saturday not having any NFL coaching experience (not even as an assistant). There currently isn’t a coach on Indianapolis’ staff that has called plays during a game. Irsay defended his Saturday’s hiring during a press conference and provided a few memorable analogies including the one below.
“I don't know how to make sausage. I don't know what goes into sausage. But I do know how to build a football team."

The Raiders have played ghastly this season. First-year coach Josh McDaniels’ squad has blown three 17-point leads in 2022-2023. That’s tied for the record for 17-point leads blown ever and it’s only been eight weeks.
Playoffs hopes are bleak for most teams but Sunday presents a must-win scenario if either organization wants to miraculously try and earn a Wildcard berth.
Oddsmakers at Bet365 Sportsbook are favoring the Raiders by 4.5 points. On the moneyline, Indianapolis is +185 and Las Vegas sits at -225 odds. Bettors have put 64% of their bets on the Raiders to cover and 89% of the money on the Colts to win straight up.
Players to watch in the Colts vs. Raiders contest
Indianapolis
Jonathan Taylor: The 23-year-old hasn’t been able to gash defenses as he did in 2021 when he won the NFL FedEx Ground Player of the Year Award. Taylor posted 1,811 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns with an average of 5.5 yards per carry. This season, the former Wisconsin Badger has been plagued with injury and is only averaging 4.3 YPC. He’s only scored one touchdown as well.
Las Vegas
Davante Adams: The Pro Bowl wide receiver is tied for the lead in the NFL for receiving touchdowns (seven) and is having another great year. Adams has recorded 48 receptions for 658 yards and has eclipsed 95 yards receiving in five-of-eight contests. He’ll look to continue his hot streak against the Colts.

ESTNN is providing bettors with two free selections for this game.
Indianapolis vs. Las Vegas Spread: Las Vegas -4.5 @ -110
Statistically, the Raiders are in the middle of the table on offense. Their 2-6 record isn’t reminiscent of the product they are putting on the field.
Las Vegas Raiders Schedule
Chargers 24-19 (L)
Cardinals 29-23 (L)
Titans 24-22 (L)
Broncos 32-23 (W)
Chiefs 30-29 (L)
Texans 38-20 (W)
Saints 24-0 (L)
Jaguars 27-20 (L)
Besides the 24-0 mauling by New Orleans, the Raiders are losing by an average of 4.2 points per game. The team’s offense is ranked 16th in the NFL (338.4 yards per game) and is scoring 22.9 points per game (14th). The misery has come on the defensive side of the ball. Vegas ranks fifth-worst in both total defense (371.2 YPG) and points allowed (25.1).
It’s extremely difficult for any team to win in the NFL, no matter how bad the opposition is. That being said, Las Vegas will host a team with an inexperienced head coach and an inexperienced quarterback, Sam Ehlinger. The former 6th-round pick out of Texas played awful last week against New England. Ehlinger went 15-of-29 for 103 yards, an interception and was sacked nine times. The former Longhorn finished with a quarterback rating of 13.4. The Colts are averaging 10 points per game with Ehlinger under center.
Indianapolis ranks dead last in points per game this year (15) and sports the 27th-ranked total offense (315.1 YPG). Its fifth-ranked defense (306.8 YPG) has been able to keep a few games close and is surrendering 20.3 points per contest (13th).
Las Vegas is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games at Allegiant Stadium and 3-5 ATS this season. Indianapolis is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 matchups with Las Vegas and 3-6 ATS in 2022.
It’s likely too tall of a task to ask Ehlinger and Saturday to win an away game when the two haven’t worked together this season and both share inexperience. We believe the Raiders will cover the 4.5-point spread. The bet is available on Bet365 sportsbook at -110 odds.
Colts vs. Raiders odds: Daniel Carlson over 1.5 field goals @ -139
Las Vegas kicker Daniel Carlson is a perfect 18-for-18 this season when attempting field goals. The Pro Bowl kicker is considered one of the best in the league and an argument can be made he’s second behind Baltimore’s Justin Tucker.
The Raiders are tied for fifth in the NFL in field goal attempts per game with 2.3. Their red zone offense has been stagnant and ranks T-23rd scoring on only 50% of trips. They’ll face a stingy Colts defense that is only allowing opponents to score in the red area only 42.9% of the time in the last three games. There will be plenty of opportunities for Carlson.
In six of the eight games played, Carlson has made at least two field goals. He’s made three or more on three occasions.
Daniel Carlson FG Attempt Game Log
Chargers 24-19, (2-for-2)
Cardinals 29-23 (3-for-3)
Titans 24-22 (3-for-3)
Broncos 32-23 (4-for-4)
Chiefs 30-29 (2-for-2)
Texans 38-20 (1-for-1)
Saints 24-0 (0-for-0)
Jaguars 27-20 (2-for-2)
We think there’s an excellent chance Carlson will beat the over 1.5 field goals prop against the Indy. The bet is available at Caesars Sportsbook at -139 odds.
