Browns vs. Falcons NFL week 4 odds, preview and current betting lines
This game has the potential to be a really good one with both of these sides coming off the back of morale boosting wins last week, however, there is an elephant in the room that needs to be discussed. The elephant is Browns man Myles Garrett who was hospitalized earlier this week after flipping his car when speeding.
Regardless of the broader perceptions of that incident, it is looking likely the Defensive End will play – especially with the Browns being light on the ground defensively anyway – so the reception he gets will be an interesting subplot to this match up.
Garrett’s inclusion though will not be a deciding factor in this game. That’s much more likely to come from the match ups of Browns pair Jacoby Brissett and Nick Chubb and Falcons duo Marcus Mariota and Cordarrelle Patterson. Whatever pair performs better on the day will probably see their team to victory in what is likely to be a tight affair.
Players to watch in the Browns vs. Falcons game
Cleveland Browns
Jacoby Brissett: Jacoby Brissett is brimming with confidence right now after slinging for two touchdowns last time out and he’s currently averaging a passing success rate above anything he’s managed in his career to date. It’s been such a good couple of weeks for the former Dolphins’ man that Browns fans have gone from feeling underwhelmed by his arrival to waxing lyrical about him. Will that continue here?
Atlanta Falcons
Cordarrelle Patterson: Naming Cordarrelle Patterson as a player to watch in this game is perhaps a big call for us given he’s currently down as ‘questionable’ for selection due to a knee injury. If the Falcons want to get a result though, we believe he simply has to play; he gives the side another dimension. He put up 141 rushing yards last week along with an impressive touchdown to cap a solid performance. If he’s running, he plays – right?
Our NFL bet of the week for the Patriots vs. Dolphins match
Right, with the preview over let’s move on to our predictions, after all, that’s the main reason you’re here.
Browns vs. Falcons Spread betting: Browns -3.5 @ +134
We’re not convinced there will be much between the sides in this match with both teams having won two and lost three of their last five outings, however, we’ve been most impressed with the Browns so far this season and, as such, we think they’ll come of this match not only with the win but with a little bit of breathing room too hence the 3.5 spread. Two of the three defeats the Falcons have suffered within their last five matches have come with margins greater than 3.5 points whilst the Browns beat the Steelers by a 12 point margin in week three. Pu those facts together with a head to head record that shows the Browns have won each of the last two clashes by a combined scoreline of 47-26 suggest that a -3.5 spread is something the boys from Cleveland can overcome.
Browns vs. Falcons odds: Brissett passing yards over 212.5 @ -115
Our second tip for the Browns vs Falcons focuses on Cleveland’s summer recruit, Jacoby Brissett. The performance of Brissett is likely to be critical to how the Browns come through this match and with BetRivers offering over 212.5 passing yards at -115 we think that’s cracking value. The opening game week of the season was a tough one for Brissett but the last two weeks he has been a real class act; in week two he put up a pass completion rate of 81.5% throwing 229 yards (notably over the 212.5 threshold needed for this bet) whilst last week again saw him break the 212.5 mark as he threw 220 yards and two touchdowns. Along with Brissett’s stats looking good for going over 212.5, the Falcons haven’t shown signs of stopping him doing so; they’ve allowed QBs to throw 866 yards against them – that’s an average of 289 per match!
