Bengals vs. Jets NFL week 3 odds, preview and current betting lines
Joe Burrow and co might not be worried by their 0-2 start to the new season but plenty of the Bengals fan base are and this game week three match up with the New York Jets all of a sudden looks a lot trickier than it did a couple of weeks ago – that’s what happens when you’re not firing on all cylinders. Should the Jets come out on top then the panic might really set in.
On the subject of the Jets, they’ll come into this game absolutely buzzing after snatching victory in what was an enthralling climax to their match against the Browns. Joe Flacco threw four touchdowns but he was far from the online player to shine in a Jets jersey. That said, let’s focus on Flacco a tad more; he threw four touchdowns last time whilst Joe Burrow has yet to deliver that many this season.
In reality, that’s not a dig at Burrow but the offensive structure of this Bengals side doesn’t feel right. If they are again lacklustre in this game and ultimately fail to win then serious questions will need to be answered. The only glimmer of positivity we can offer Bengals way is that a win here would put them right back amongst the teams in the AFC North with everyone having lost at least once.
Players to watch in the Bengals vs. Jets game
Cincinatti Bengals
Joe Burrow: We’ve already cited Burrow above but with the Bengals offensive line really not firing there is only one place attention goes – and that’s on Burrow. Can he deliver the stellar performance we know he is capable of?
New York Jets
Garrett Wilson: Most people came away from the Jets last win waxing lyrical about Flacco but, for us, it was rookie Garrett Wilson who really impressed. Will this be the beginning of something special for the Ohio State grad or was it just a one off?
Our NFL bet of the week for the Bengals vs. Jets match
Right, with the preview over let’s move on to our predictions, after all, that’s the main reason you’re here.
Bengals vs. Jets Spread betting: Jets +6.5 @ -121
We begin our tips by backing the Jets to come out on top when propped up with a +6.5 points spread. Recent form doesn’t look kindly on the Bengals given they’ve won just one of their last five matches whilst the Jets have lost just one of their past five with a couple of interesting wins in there. From the head to head angle, the Bengals edge things with three wins in the last five clashes and, with that in mind, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bengals take the ‘W’ (they damn well need to get one on the board), however, given how the Jets looked last week we don’t think they’ll be taken to pieces.
Bengals vs. Jets odds: Total points over 45 @ -110
Our second tip for the Bengals vs. Jets match is that we’ll see over 45 points. The Bengals recent form puts a tiny element of doubt in this bet with just two of their last five matches going over that 45 points mark. Despite that, the form the Bengals have shown and the way the recent head to heads have played out are enough for us to plump for ‘over’. The Jets have gone over the 45 mark in three of their past five matches with an average of 47.4 points per game. The head to head record between these sides is very similar; three of the last five clashes have hit the 45 point mark with the game average sitting at 47.6 points. The stats considered alongside the odds make this a decent shout.
