Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat Game 5 Preview
The Hawks are in major trouble after Trae Young scored fewer than 10 points for the second time in this series against a Miami defense that has figured him out. Young played one of the least aggressive games of his career on Sunday while Jimmy Butler was great again with 36 points. Butler’s performance throughout the series has really covered up for a mediocre Miami offensive showing that will have to get better in future rounds if the Heat are to return to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years.
But the Hawks have not had many answers for Butler or for getting their three-point shooting going. Beyond Young, reliable shooters Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter had poor nights in Game 4, potentially the last home game of the season for these Hawks. After last year’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals, this year’s Atlanta team just does not seem to have what it takes to get past the top-seeded Heat, who should be looking to close the series out at home on Tuesday night.
Common Questions for Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat Game 5
The action returns to FTX Arena in Miami, Florida this Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
The Heat are favored by 7.5 points, tying their largest spread of the series. Each of Miami’s three wins have been by 10-plus points.
The total is 217.5 points, down a few points from the games in Atlanta where the Hawks play better offense. But Atlanta’s offense has been woeful in Games 1 and 4 of this series.
The Hawks are relatively healthy now that center Clint Capela returned for Game 4. Miami point guard Kyle Lowry missed Game 4, but he was itching to play that one. His hamstring will keep him questionable for this one.
The odds are stacked against the Hawks winning this series now. NBA teams leading 3-1 win 95.1% of all best-of-seven series. Their series record is 252-13.
