Is Miami a Legit No. 1 Seed?
There will be a lot of pressure on the Heat as the top seed after a season that saw much more hype go to the talented Nets, the defending champion Bucks, the surging Celtics, and the super pairing of Joel Embiid and James Harden on the 76ers.
But it was Miami that finished No. 1 in the Eastern Conference in the regular season. Atlanta only finished No. 9, but a strong finish and two wins in the play-in tournament has Trae Young’s team back in the playoffs for the second year in a row.
The Heat were swept by the Bucks a year ago, casting some doubt on the success the team had in the bubble a year earlier, including a series win over Milwaukee when Giannis Antetokounmpo was injured. But the Heat have a very solid roster, led by Jimmy Butler, and they are 3-1 this season against the Hawks, who may be missing center Clint Capela after he injured his knee on Friday night.
But Young’s ability to score in bunches can make for an exciting series to watch. Atlanta is also a much better home team than road team, so this series has the potential to go six or seven games. Here are our predictions for Game 1.
