Get the scoop on Fortnite patch v12.50 and all of the changes within.
Fortnite’s newest update brought some highly requested changes particularly to the Battle Royale mode. Patch v12.50 came out earlier this morning to a somewhat positive reception considering the changes to Heavy Snipers and aim assist. Although we have yet to dig deeply into these changes, it’s safe to say that Heavy Snipers saw a body shot damage reduction at the very least.
As always, we’d like to thank Reddit user FortniteMods for compiling a list of community patch notes given that Epic no longer provides them. However, without any further adieu, let’s take a look at what changed in patch v12.50.
Aim Assist changes
If you’re a fan of competitive Fortnite in any regard, you’ll understand the happiness of an aim assist adjustment. Many professional players, including Twitch Superstar Turner “Tfue” Tenney and World Champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, have nearly driven themselves crazy on the subject. Linear is explicitly the more powerful aim assist option, but Epic has made some changes to the input as a whole. Some players are reporting that nothing significant has changed with aim assist, so be sure to investigate.
- AA change which makes 240hz AA act like 60hz AA, which impacts target acquisition.
Investigations and tests are ongoing regarding aim assist, so leave feedback for Epic.
Heavy Snipers damage reduction
One of v12.50’s most prominent changes is the damage reduction on Heavy Snipers. Since these Epic and Legendary weapons returned to Fortnite, many have disliked their impact. It’s simply too easy to down or eliminate someone with one shot from a Heavy Sniper. Epic Games has answered the prayers of many competitive and casual Fortnite players. The developers nerfed the damage output on Heavy Snipers to balance them out. We can, however, confirm that Heavy Snipers can still break through walls in one shot.
- Damage decreased from 150/157 to 126/132 for the Epic and Legendary variants respectively

Plus, a New Duo Boxfight playlist in Creative.
Issues Fixed
- Issues with framerate and resolution drops in v12.41 fixed
Map Changes
- Risky Reels officially named as a location on the map
With all of those considerations, nothing significantly changed with the map, and no new weapons made their debut in Fortnite. The Heavy Sniper damage reduction and aim assist adjustments are the two biggest takeaways from patch v12.50. Both topics have been a massive point of contention within the competitive Fortnite community in particular, so it's somewhat reassuring to see Epic address them.
