Dota Underlords is among the most played games on Steam right now. Having said that, since the game is in early access, there are regular updates that are trying to fix all the issues that occur. Today, the Dota Underlords devs released a new update called “Head to head Update.” Let’s take a look at what’s new.
Head to Head
The players are now paired off to fight directly against each other. Also, both of them take part in the same shared combat. When an odd number of players are present, one of the players fights a clone of an actual player. Leaderboard now pairs off players when they’re in head-to-head combat.
New Ranked System
As the devs tweeted earlier, some changes were coming to the ranked system.
First, the rank is now a number with changes based on your finish in a Ranked match. What’s more, it does not depend on your opponents’ rank and it moves up and down in a predictable way. Basically, it is very similar to the MMR system in Dota 2.
Any time when you reach the new minor Rank, there will be bonus points. Also, once you get to a new, higher rank, you won’t be able to drop below it even if you wanted to. Click here if you have any more questions about the new system.
New Casual Multiplayer Mode
As the name suggests, casual games do not involve your rank. You will be matched with opponents from the same skill level so that you can experiment with new strategies or builds without risking all that much. In addition to that, you can also do the daily challenges and achievements. Last, but not least, you can also play either solo or with your friends.
Ranked Multiplayer mode Updates
As mentioned above, your rank will be used to find opponents. For a new player to play ranked, he/she will have to do five casual games. However, accounts which already unlocked this feature won’t have to do it again. Similar to casual games, there will be challenges and achievements here.
When you do a specific achievement, it will boost your Proto Pass XP. In addition to that, if you happen to complete an entire tier of achievements, you will be able to unlock an equip a Banner Sigils. That’s just awesome!
Two and Three stars Upgrade have been added to a couple of heroes. Check them out in the full patch release.
General and UI changes
There are a lot of changes here so only the most important ones will be listed. To read the full list, click here.
The solo games/ tutorial not ending bug when you are not connected to Steam is now fixed. In addition to that, the Spirit Bear HP bar offset, the not showing defeat screen, and the healing-disabling items not applying in neutral waves are also fixed.
Fixed Deadeye units not switching away from unselectable targets.
Fixed Unstoppable triggering too early.
Corrected incorrect stun duration after the Burrow Strike bump.
The post-game screen has been updated with progress, stats and scoreboard.
Gameplay and Spectating
The round damage eliminated for rounds 4-9. In addition to that, round damage starts at around 11, at 2 damage and proceeds as before from then on. Also, when a player loses a round against another player, the loser will gain a free reroll the next round. However, this new reroll can’t be stacked. You either use it or you lose it. The spectators can now see the shop of the players from the same party.
- Crystal Maiden
After the new update, there has been a slight increase in her max HP. In addition to that, she now costs 2 instead of 3 gold.
The attack damage minimum and maximum are now increased. On the contrary, the armor is changed from 20 to 5,10. Last, but not least, the maximum HP is also changed from 300 to 300,600.
Juggernaut will only cast Blade Fury when he is surrounded by at least two enemies.
Similar to her sister, Lina now costs two instead of three gold.
- Ogre Magi
There is a big change to Bloodlust. The self bonus Attack speed got buffed from 35/55/75 to 50/90/130. Also, the other bonus attack speed is buffed from 30/40/50 to 30/65/100.
- Shadow Fiend
His attack Range is changed from 3 to 3 and Requiem of Souls has some range changes.
Plague Ward is once again the main focus of changes. First, the number of wards spawned is changed from 1,1,3 to 1,1,1. Second, the maximum HP is also slightly changed which will make them tankier. The attack minimum and maximum damage, as well as range, are also increased.
- Witch Doctor
His Paralyzing Cask CS is nerfed and now has a 15 sec CD instead of 10.+
There are a lot of items and Alliance changes in the new patch. First, there are four new items added to the game.
The first one is called Helm of the Undying and it is a Tier 2 defensive equipment. It provides +5 armor and the hero can survive for extra for seconds after getting a killing blow.
The second item is a tier 3 support equipment called Bracers of Desperation. “Equipped hero resets their cooldown and gets full mana when below 30% hp. Attac target’s magic resistance is reduced by 30%.”
Poaching Knife - Tier 3 offensive equipment. Ther hero who has it has a 30% chance of producing one gold when they kill an enemy. Also, attacks against units with less than 20% hp do 200% crit damage. Dawning of Ristul - A global item that reduces the healing for both crews by 50%.
Cloak, Recruiter, Vicious Intent and Wicked Intent have been removed from the game.
Other Item changes
Big-Time Contract, Brooch of Martyr, Chainmail, Claymore, Gloves of Haste, Hood of Defiance, Octarine Essence, Tranquil Boots, Force Staff all received some sort of alteration. The biggest changes are done to the Big-Time Contract and the Brooch of Martyr.
Big-Time Contract now gives +250 HP and it makes the equipped unit a Blood-bound in addition to other types.
On the other hand, the Brooch of the Martyr now gives +50% mana gained from receiving damage and +50% debuff resistance.
