After much anticipation, the Dota 2 Outlanders Update will release after the Chengdu Major concludes.
Similar to previous years, Valve teased players with a couple of new heroes during TI 9. Supposedly, they will be introduced when the big update kicks in and year, it’s called “The Outlanders Update”.
Unfortunately, in typical Valve fashion, they did not give us an exact date for when to expect it. Many people thought that we will see it as soon as TI 9 came to an end. However, this was not the case. In fact, it’s been over two months now and there is still no sign of it, even though there were a couple of other updates released during that time.
This long waiting is not something that the players like and the latest Reddit thread prove it. One user named Kraivo asked Valve to give any kind of hit as to when to expect the new update.
This post became very popular in no time, which brought the attention of one of Valve’s devs. “Our plan is similar to previous years, where it is soon after the first Major is concluded. We tend to avoid broadcasting dates explicitly though because things can shift around and we wouldn’t want the expectation to be a specific day if a little bit more time was needed.”
In other words, unless things go south, The Outlanders should be here once MDL Chengdu concludes. This means that players must wait for around four weeks from now, which is not that bad.
We can only hope that the new update is good. The Dota 2 player base is currently in a big recession as the game currently has the lowest players since 2014. Of course, this tends to happen after TI ends but never to this extent.
The good thing is that Valve is trying to improve the Dota 2 community by taking measures against people that flame and ruin the games of the others. This is definitely a step in the right direction.
