OG, the two times TI winners announced that they will take a new team under their wing - OG Seed. According to the official announcement, they wanted to help the new squad achieve their dreams. However, it seems like the TI 9 champ’s help was not enough because OG Seed got eliminated already.

What Happened?

These qualifiers are the first challenge ahead of Kuro “KuroKy” Salahi Takhhsomi and his friends after being away for over three months. Playing under the name of their new organization Nigma, they’ve eliminated OG Seed.

Even though the young squad gave their best, Nigma’s just outclassed their enemies. Both games were heavily one-sided as TI 7 champions ripped through their enemies. This was a clear sign that despite the break, Nigmna is still one of the best teams in the world. As you’ve probably guessed, Amer “Miracle” Al-Barkawi was the man of the series.

Apart from Nigma, the other big name that made it through the Open Qualifiers is Team Secret. It seems like Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen is just what they needed because they’ve completely outplayed all of their enemies. The last team that they had to go through in the semi-final was Akbar “SoNNEikO” Butave’s new team called Chicken Fighters. The Ukranian superstar was forced to find a new home after he was removed from Natus Vincere a couple of weeks ago

Final Thoughts

WePlay!’s Bikovel Minor and the Leipzig Major will be the second DPC tournaments after MDL Chengdu and the Dota Summit 11 came to an end. Even though they were pretty fun to watch, the upcoming ones are definitely going to be a lot more interesting. After all, some of the biggest names such as Team Secret and Nigma (ex. Team Liquid) are back.

The return of the “giants” means that teams such as Alliance and TNC Predator need to prove themselves yet again, even though they’ve already done it this season. To make matters worse, the Outlanders Update completely changed Dota 2, which means that they can’t even use the experience they’ve gathered from the previous events because the meta is different now.
