Treyarch has released a massive server-side update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This update will blast you with a sandstorm, and I’m not talking about the song by Darude. This sandstorm is none other than an alternate weather take on the existing Arsenal multiplayer map, along the lines of similar “re-imagined” maps such as Firing Range Night, Contraband Hurricane, and Seaside Night. Players will have to adapt their strategies on this map to consider the obvious reduced visibility. If you’re wondering how much the sandstorm will impact the outdoors areas of the Arsenal map, here’s a screenshot of it as an example:
A new mode has debuted on PlayStation 4 that’s sure to shake things up as well, and that new mode is Deathmatch Domination! According to Treyarch:
“If you’ve ever wished your team could play the objective in Domination even if they’re just there for the streaks, we’ve got great news. Introducing Deathmatch Domination on PS4, a first-of-its-kind mode for the Black Ops series. In this new take on Domination, teams now have two ways to earn points toward the score limit: by capturing objectives, and by earning kills throughout the match.”
I haven’t tried the new mode yet, but I’m guessing this Deathmatch Domination mode will play similarly to how the Domination mode worked in the Destiny series. At any rate, this mode will be a fun take on multiplayer for those who can’t decide between playing Team Deathmatch or Domination.
In the weapon balancing department, the KN-57 is back and better than ever! Treyarch revealed they increased the ADS speed of the KN-57, meaning quicker ADS times both with and without Quickdraw. The recoil for the KN-57 is reduced as well, allowing for better control. The impacts of the buffed KN-57 are already noticeable by the pros (video below). ADS speed has also been increased for the Rampart 17.
These are the most critical features of the new update that directly impact multiplayer. There’s plenty of other updates for Blackout (including tweaks to the new Alcatraz map) and of course Zombies, but for those, you can check out Treyarch’s official patch notes.
